Maere Studios is an award winning visual effects, design, and animation studio for film and television.

Founded by Nicholas Ashe Bateman through the development of the micro budget film 'THE WANTING MARE' - MAERE STUDIOS has grown into a full service visual effects, design, and animation studio. Working on over 25 feature films in the past five years, MAERE has worked on projects such as Walt Disney's 'Hocus Pocus 2,' 'Peter Pan & Wendy,' A24's 'The Green Knight,' Ava DuVernay's 'Origin,' M. Night Shyamalan's 'Knock at the Cabin,' 'Servant' ‘Caddo Lake’ and the upcoming films 'Mother Mary' and 'Y2k' from A24. 

Most recently, MAERE STUDIOS has evolved into a complete animation studio, designing and producing the entirety of the upcoming 30-minute animated short 'An Almost Christmas Story,' produced by Alfonso Cuarón and David Lowery for Walt Disney Animation and Disney+. The film was awarded the Special Jury Prize for Television Special at the 2025 Annecy Film Festival.

Currently, Maere Studios is in production on it’s own original animated film written and directed by Nicholas Ashe Bateman. The feature film - an epic children’s fantasy called ‘The Turning Door’ is co-produced by 2AM, starring Alicia Vikander, Jamie Dornan, Bill Nighy, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Gillian Anderson.
